With a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education focused on English from Slippery Rock University, Justin’s career began in public education, progressing from substitute teaching to full-time roles. His work in a residential treatment facility ignited a passion for administrative tasks, coordinating programs for court-adjudicated young men. Justin’s dedication to supporting leadership and fostering growth shines through in his role at Trusty Oak. Residing in Western Pennsylvania with his dog and two cats, he enjoys family breakfasts, learning new languages, and teaching himself piano. Justin’s multifaceted skills and compassionate approach make him an invaluable asset to our team.

Why did you choose to be a VA and why does this lifestyle work for you?
I previously worked in the education system, initially as a teacher before moving into an administrative role within the academic office. There, I found my passion for doing the types of behind-the-scenes work that supported leaders and the students in the school. After I was laid off from my previous position during the COVID-19 pandemic, I began looking for ways to incorporate this newfound passion into my career. I realized that doing the more detailed, administrative work was something that I enjoyed and had learned how valuable it can be to a leader to be supported by an effective VA.
What made you choose Trusty Oak?
It was recommended to me by a friend whose sister worked there. I loved everything I saw about their commitment to their VAs and building a healthy work environment.
What’s your superpower?
I can write anything you need. Over the years in education, I’ve utilized my skills to write in a variety of tones and styles. I can provide creative, formal, academic, marketing, technical, and more to interested clients.
Describe your favorite place to work from.
From the comfort of my home, usually with a cat nearby and instrumental music playing to facilitate my process.
What hobbies or interests do you enjoy?
I love to watch and analyze television, take walks with my dog, learn new things, listen to podcasts, and gaming.
What is your top program/app that makes your life easier as a VA?
A simple answer, but I’ve learned to heavily rely on the Google Suite of programs (docs, sheets, Drive, etc). It helps me to access my work from any networked device while providing useful and essential tools.
Describe your dream client.
My dream client is someone who is using their position and power to do good in the world. I am passionate about supporting leaders and utilizing my skills to make the world a better, more equitable place.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Taking each day as it comes.
Describe your perfect day off.
No obligations, no need to leave the house, a midday nap, something good to watch, and a delicious dinner planned for the evening.
