Erica Sharpe — Rockstar Support

Erica Sharpe began her professional journey in cosmetology, where she quickly learned the value of strong communication and attention to detail, skills she now brings to her work as a virtual assistant. After transitioning from the salon to working from home, Erica developed her expertise in transcription and captioning, sharpening her abilities in typing, proofreading, and editing. This path eventually led her to virtual assistance, where she excels in helping clients with a wide range of tasks, from booking reservations and managing appointments to conducting research and making recommendations.

Known for her dedication, thoroughness, and passion, Erica is committed to going above and beyond to ensure her clients’ success. Outside of her role as a virtual assistant, Erica is a talented freelance illustrator with a self-published webcomic series and has collaborated with streamers on Twitch to create stream graphics and emotes. She enjoys life in rural Kentucky with her husband and son, balancing her professional commitments with her creative pursuits.

Why did you choose to be a VA and why does this lifestyle work for you?

I chose to be a VA because I love helping people and being a part of something bigger. This suits my lifestyle as a work-from-home mom with a homeschooled child because I can reinforce his work ethic with school by setting an example as well as provide for my family while meeting new people and helping them do the things for their business that their time is best suited for.

What made you choose Trusty Oak?

Excellent opportunities for work, growing my skillset as a virtual assistant, and a place to find positive online coworkers who enjoy what they do as much as I do!

What’s your superpower?

My creativity, timeliness, and organizational skills.

Describe your favorite place to work from.

My desk! I have all of my favorite art books and materials at my desk with all of my silly trinkets and decorations. It’s very much my space and I definitely do my best work there.

What is your top program/app that makes your life easier as a VA?

Google Sheets. If I can organize data in a spreadsheet, I can and I will. I love them for sorting and reading data, keeping checklists, and so much more.

What hobbies or interests do you enjoy?

I am a self-taught illustrator with my very own comic that is 30 chapters in!

Describe your dream client.

I love working with people who communicate and keep me busy! The work that I do isn’t what sells it for me. There are tasks I enjoy, but I will enjoy any work given to me so much more if I am able to build rapport with my client and we enjoy the working relationship as we go!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Helping people the way I do now, maybe with an art shop on the side that’s doing halfway decent!

Describe your perfect day off.

I sleep in, someone brings me Baxter’s coffee (rather than me going out to get it), cooks dinner while I draw, and then do something fun at home with my husband and my son!

Thank you for sharing, Erica!
