Lauren Lyman is an experienced freelancer in content writing, marketing, and administration. Lauren originally began her career in academia, aspiring to work as a university professor in music history and classical flute while holding several customer service and office coordinator jobs along the way. In December 2011, Lauren graduated from Texas State University with a M.M. in Music History and Literature and moved to Austin, TX two years later.
After working for a music licensing company in the contract, billing, and sales support departments, she decided to combine these skills with her music network by starting her own business, OtherSide Austin, in January 2017. For this startup, Lauren specialized in public relations, booking, artist management, social media management, and email newsletters for DIY artists and non-profit organizations. Lauren has represented artists for local festivals, including Voyager Music Festival (2016), Sonic Transmissions Festival (2017), and Congo Square ATX (2019 and 2020). She was also a public relations representative for the stand-up comedian, Mo Amer, for his Netflix special at The Paramount Theatre in June of 2018.
Lauren was hired at Trusty Oak in January 2019 as a marketing and administrative virtual assistant. She has also worked as the Social Media Manager from March 2020 to March 2021. Lauren is currently a blogger for the Trusty Oak website, where she contributes to topics on the client to VA relationship.
In the spring of 2020, her partner was accepted into graduate school, so in August 2020, they moved to Brooklyn, NY, where Lauren continues to freelance as a Trusty Oak professional. In her spare time, Lauren writes her own music, plays her flute for her partner’s studio sessions as well as for other independent musicians and producers, and she performs at venues in New York City.
