“Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it.” Stephen Hawking
I started out working in high school in a medical office. Answering calls, making calls to patients and insurance companies, scheduling, working with nurses, organizing charts, ordering supplies, and filing charts. We still had physical charts to keep organized. I worked on transcribing doctors’ SOAP notes, adding to charts, following up on prescription refills, cleaning the office, and everything else in between. Shortly after getting married, my husband joined the military, and we began to move around. Since I had experience and felt very comfortable in the medical field, I worked for temp agencies to help me find work in medical offices as we moved. When my husband retired in 2010, we moved back to Oregon. However, working in Portland was difficult as the commute became longer and longer. Sitting on the train for 2-3 hours a day felt like a complete waste of time, and I hate to waste time. So I switched to working entirely from home and haven’t looked back. I love working from home; I can complete everything I could in a traditional office in my home office. I do have co-workers, though, my three well-behaved and snuggly dogs.
My work experience has encompassed email management, calendar management, travel coordination, research, project management, and more. I am always looking for any opportunity to learn, and I am always up for a challenge. I completed my Associate of Science degree while living in Oregon. I recently obtained a paralegal certificate while working at a law firm remotely. I am always taking online classes to gain new professional and personal skills. Throughout my work experiences, I have acquired many valuable skill sets from different roles and various industries. I am self-motivated and dedicated, and I believe hard work pays off. I love working behind the scenes, taking over tasks to free up time for my client to grow. I love to dig into any task I am given and use my attention to detail and organization. My personal motto is to work smarter and not harder. I always do my best to stay positive and strive to go the extra mile.
I live in Wyoming, so when the weather is good, we soak it up and spend as much time outside. I will fill my free time with all things animal related. I volunteer my professional experience to local animal rescues and shelters. Right now, I am helping a rescue that works to find homes for senior, disabled, and behaviorally challenged dogs. In Oregon, I helped to create a charity and a non-profit for animal emergency needs for Veterans. If I am not working with animals, I love to fill my time in nature, reading a good book, writing short stories, taking photographs, playing a new video game, learning a new hobby, or completing a DIY house project with my husband.
